  • Registered Nurse
    The Registered Nurse is responsible for creating a caring and courteous environment while providing quality care to the patient and family. Demonstrates an ability to carry out the mission of St. James Mercy Hospital. Staff is responsible for the care of all age groups and to work collaboratively to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Ability to critically assess and treat immediate patient needs. Exceptional communication skills are essential.
    Competent in nursing practice and nursing process
    Practices within defined NYS scope of practice
    Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records
    Prepare patients for, and assists with, examinations and treatments
    Effectively relates to and supports patients and families in crisis
    Knowledgeable in the care of patients in all age groups
    Is knowledgeable regarding specific departmental and critical care area policies and procedures and their proper implementation
    Actively participates in unit/service activities, supports co-workers, and assesses unit needs

  • Hospitalist (Per Diem)
    Demonstrates Proficiency
    Perform appropriate assessment and internal care as required on all patients who present with internal medical conditions
    Coordinate patient treatment plan and consult specialists as appropriate
    Order, interpret, or perform all appropriate diagnostic tests necessary to complete the evaluation and treatment plan
    Perform essential procedural skills required for internal care, i.e. endotracheal intubation, central line placement, etc.
    Ensure the ethical practice of internal medicine and respect for all staff and patients
    Liaison with Medical Director, nursing, and medical staff to ensure a collegial work environment
    Advocate for due process for complaint resolution and other issues relating the Hospitalist staff
    Collaborate with appropriate staff to ensure public health department case reporting
    Collaborates with appropriate agencies to ensure intervention and referral of cases such as sexual assault, child or elder abuse and psychiatric crisis

  • Radiology Physician
    Create an environment that enhances clinical growth and academic development ensuring a high degree of integrity in all decisions and operations
    Communicate effectively and frequently with the clinical and administrative leadership, as well as with the faculty and staff to ensure that the Section’s activities are aligned with the mission and goals of the organization and the needs of its faculty and staff
    Plan effectively for the anticipated demand for body services arising from expanding patient volumes, ensuring that facilities, technologies, operations, staffing and outreach activities are sufficient. Promote a strong culture of institutional responsibility, including a commitment to excellent, efficient and effective business operations and use of space
    Create programs for the academic and professional development of faculty. Recruit, support and mentor body faculty who will maintain and advance the section. Identify faculty who should be considered for promotion.
    Promote a strong culture of institutional stewardship throughout the hospital, including commitment to improved business operations, efficient and effective use of space and a willingness to re-align resources with evolving strategies. Maintain or increase productivity of body imagers and collaborates with other physicians to ensure that the section meets the imaging and procedural needs of patients in all clinical areas
    Provide guidance in the selection of appropriate imaging equipment to advance the clinical programs; ensure that each purchase accommodates patient care needs
    Advance research activities in the Section that are consistent with the growth of clinical programs
    Ensure that clinical operations in each section are patient-centered, efficient, effective, safe, and provide a supportive environment for enabling the department’s education and research missions
    Oversee the education of students, residents and fellows. Create an active learning environment for both students and residents. Ensure that course materials are maintained and appropriately updated for all section portions of educational programs, including residency and fellowship programs, and student clerkships. Work with residency and medical student clerkship directors to oversee section faculty assignments for all educational programs.

  • Physician – Emergency Department
    Perform assessment/examinations on initial encounter with unscheduled, emergency and new patients
    Coordinate patient treatment plan and consult specialists as appropriate
    Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests necessary to complete the evaluation and treatment plan
    Performs necessary procedural skills like endotracheal intubation, central line placement, etc.
    Collaborate with appropriate staff to ensure public health department case reporting
    Collaborates with appropriate staff to ensure intervention and referral of cases such as sexual assault, child or elder abuse and psychiatric crisis
    Provide timely completeness and content of charts
    Effective Collaboration that Helps Achieve Organizational Goals
    Work collaboratively and supportively with members of the medical staff to provide emergency services to all patients who present to the emergency department
    Act as a team player and works collaboratively within the team and organization
    Assist with developing priorities, goals, and action plans
    Respond to requests from department manager and Emergency Department Director.
    Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to assist with evaluation of programs and services.
    Work collaboratively with heads of diagnostic and therapeutic departments to ensure availability, quality, and effective use of services, and with chiefs of services to ensure that house staff services are appropriate
    Ensure departmental performance meets or exceeds standards described in medical staff rules and regulations, hospital bylaws, departmental policies, Joint Commission Manual of Accreditation, and in other appropriate local and national standards.
    Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from and institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed.
    Preferred experience in Emergency Medicine, Internal or Family Medicine
    Interest in training other trainees
    Emergency medicine physician with proven clinical and administrative skills
    Meets ACEP requirements for annual continuing medical education
    Must possess a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States
    Board certification in emergency medication preferred
    Must possess the following certifications: ATLS, ACLS, PALS, BLS
    Strong verbal, organizational and inter personal skills are required
    Appropriately focuses to the audience, whether administrators, medical staff members, EMS providers, or the lay public
    Demonstrated knowledge and ability in the financial, managerial, and marketing aspects of the emergency department

  • Advanced Practice Provider – Orthopedic
    Responsibilities: Under general direction and with latitude for independent judgment and action: Provides patient care consistent with the scope of privileges defined by the sponsoring department, written practice protocols, applicable State and Federal laws and regulations; and in collaboration with other health team members.
    Obtaining history and physical examinations
    Completing daily patient evaluations and assessments per protocol
    Writing medication and other medical orders per specific patient care protocols
    Performing routine procedures per protocol and established standards
    Instructing and counseling patients and families in collaboration with other health team members
    Documenting pertinent findings in patient record
    Identifies and participates in research and quality assurance activities
    Participates in department and/or system wide team dynamic initiatives
    Provides day-to-day support of workflow within the work unit; including disseminating information, assigning staff to cover for absences, providing technical assistance, answering questions and resolving problems as directed by the Supervisor of Clinical Support

  • Respiratory Therapist
    The Respiratory Therapist performs therapeutic procedures, set up, operates, and maintains various types of respiratory care equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and/or illness. The respiratory care practitioner is competent at delivering patient care for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Responsibilities
    Maintains professional competencies
    Explains purpose and procedure of treatments, test(s) and equipment to the patient
    Preforms physician prescribed treatments through the operation of various oxygen and aerosol delivery devices in order to administer humidity and prescribed vapors and gases to the respiratory system of the patient
    Performs arterial puncture and analysis
    Assist RN with care of patients
    Ability to perform pulmonary function studies
    Performs EKG’s
    Assist in transport of critically ill patients to other healthcare facilities as needed
    Provide patient education

  • Clinical Support Technologist
    The Clinical Support Technician assists with general patient care, data collection, documentation, application of monitoring devices, communicates patient data to nurse, stocks necessary equipment and supplies in patient rooms. The employee will demonstrate knowledge in the current concepts of his/her field and is responsible for providing quality service to patients and families.
    Job Responsibilities:
    Professional Proficiency Demonstrated
    Responsible for understanding and adherence to the Standards/Code of Conduct, and the Corporate Compliance Plan at St. James Mercy Hospital.
    Ensures that all educational requirements related to Corporate Compliance are implemented and adhered to as required by the CCP Education Plan.
    Delivery of High Quality Clinical Outcomes
    Assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
    Consistently follows established Preventative Skin Care Program; including performing preventive measures, turning and repositioning at least every 2 hours and reporting any sign of skin breakdown to the RN. Performs duties delegated by Registered Nurse within scope of practice (i.e. Phlebotomy, performing EKGs).
    Obtains and documents patient statistics such as Vital signs and I&Os. Notifies RN of any abnormalities.
    Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly
    Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

  • Ultrasound Technologist (Per Diem)
    The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing ultrasound examinations utilizing a technology that creates detailed and dynamic images of the body’s internal organs using high frequency sound waves.

  • Lab Technologist
    The Lab Technologist performs and interprets testing for use in the treatment and diagnosis of disease. May be directly involved in the collection of some specimens. Use of established procedures and analyze submitted specimens using chemical, macroscopic and microscopic means, including analyzer and manual methods as defined. Additional responsibilities would include assuring the Laboratory’s compliance of regulatory agency standards.
    Demonstrates Proficiency

    Performs equipment maintenance, calibration and quality control procedures necessary, including troubleshooting.
    Expectations in troubleshooting include daily surveillance, remedial actions and documentation, as well as supervisor notification if required
    Functions in the ordering, collecting and receiving of specimens for testing, evaluating all elements for acceptability and accuracy
    Performs testing on blood, urine, stool and body fluid specimens with accuracy, to include proficiency testing in each area of skill
    Performs compatibility testing for transfusion services, manage inventory of blood products to include ordering, documentation and disposition
    Cultivate, isolate and identify pathogenic bacteria and other organisms
    Assists with audits, inventory and other tasks as assigned

Nurse Practitioners NP jobs in Hornell, NY
The Advanced Practice Provider is a Nurse Practitioner (NP) that works in a collaborative relationship with a physician provider to oversee the care delivered to a patient population, and meet Hospital goals for safety and quality. The NP is responsible for direct patient care, documentation of care delivered, adherence to hospital and nursing policies, procedures and practice standards, education of patients and staff, assurance of service excellence, completion of state and hospital-required reviews of practice, and participation in performance improvement and other activities as required.
