St. James Mercy Foundation Annual Health Partners Campaign

Dear Friends,

I want to take a moment to thank all of you who supported St. James Mercy (SJM) Hospital through a donation to the SJM Foundation in 2009.

In spite of local economic struggles, our community members and businesses gave generously to help patients, residents and clients at St. James Mercy Hospital. With fundraising events, annual campaign, memorials, bequests, and the dedicated work of our auxiliary, a total of $184,000 was donated in 2009. This funding was used to purchase clinical care equipment, improve the look and feel of our facilities, and provide education for employees. Thank you!

The 2010 Annual “Health Partners” Campaign is now underway, and you may receive a letter from our President and Chief Executive Officer, Mary E. LaRowe, asking for your support. If you can, please join your neighbors and friends in donating to the 2010 Health Partners campaign or follow this link to make a convenient online donation.

You can be assured that every dollar will be used to improve health care outcomes of those we treat in our hospital, clinics, and nursing home…especially the poor, underserved and disadvantaged…the mission upon which the hospital was founded in 1890.

St. James Mercy Hospital is blessed to be located in a region that has supported its neighbors and residents for 120 years. And we anticipate more great things in the future!

Thank you for your support now and in the past.

Sincerely,

Jim Nicoloff
Chair, SJM Foundation Board of Directors

St. James Mercy Foundation Reaches 66% of 2008 "Health Partners Campaign" Goal – St. James Mercy Foundation has to-date reached 66% of its 2008 Annual Campaign goal of $290,000 to support the hospital. Donations had reached over $192,000 as of the end of October.

To date, the 2008 campaign has funded the purchase of six new patient chairs for cancer treatments, laboratory equipment, child and adult daycare equipment and materials, hemodialysis machines, dental equipment, nursing education, School of Radiologic Science scholarships, and McAuley Manor equipment.

“We recognize during these economic times that people are making tough decisions when spending their money,” said Danielle White, St. James Mercy Foundation Executive Director. “Investing in the healthcare of our own community is a smart decision. The funds stay local and directly help your family and neighbors. Your donation makes a difference!”

Over the last 5 years, the Foundation has provided a vital source of funding for capital improvements, technological advancements, and program enhancements. Over $1.4 million has been raised to support and strengthen St. James Mercy’s mission to address the needs of the poor, underserved and disadvantaged.

The Foundation will soon launch a “wrap-up” mailing to meet its $290,000 goal. Individuals and businesses are encouraged to consider making a gift to the 2008 Health Partners Campaign. For more information call 324-8194 or donate online at www.stjamesmercy.org.

Donations to the 2007 Annual Campaign will be placed in the general fund of the Foundation to be used where there is greatest need unless otherwise noted. A few projects the Foundation has helped fund this year include the construction of the emergency medical helicopter landing pad, the Reach Out and Read Program for pediatric patients, new hemodialysis machines, physical therapy equipment, and a jaundice bilimeter for newborns.

Thank you to our entire community for helping us reach our goal. We appreciate your continued support!
