About the Foundation

The St. James Mercy Foundation knows that charitable giving is an important tradition for many people. Giving for the benefit of others is an outstanding way to affirm your values and priorities.

Contributions to the St. James Mercy Foundation allow us to invest in equipment, programs and our facilities. Charitable support helps us to provide the best possible healthcare services for those seeking our care.

As a donor to the St. James Mercy Foundation, you may identify a particular program, project or department to benefit from your gift. Our goal is to make it easy for you to help us in a way that will be meaningful to you.

Please contact our Development office at your convenience by calling 607-324-8194. We will be happy to assist you and to answer any questions you may have regarding our organization and charitable giving opportunities.

Annual Giving Campaign

The St. James Mercy Foundation established an Annual Giving Campaign in January of 1999. During that first year we raised approximately $25,000 toward the purchase of CT Fluoroscopy technology. Since then we have demonstrated steady growth, with our 2002 effort raising $153,000 toward the purchase of R2 Image - Computer Aided Detection equipment to improve our Mammography services.

In June, 2003, the St. James Mercy Foundation kicked off its fifth annual Health Partners Campaign. This year's goal has been established at $175,000. Contributions to the campaign will be used to help purchase capital equipment for the following departments and services provided by St. James Mercy Health: Dialysis, Anesthesia, Surgical, Maternity, Medical Surgical Care, Physical Therapy, Long Term Care, Radiology, Emergency Department, Vent Unit, Psych Day Treatment, MATCH, EEG and the Lab. Overall, these projects represent almost $650,000 in capital equipment improvements for our patient care areas.

For further information regarding our campaign or projects, please feel free to contact Danielle White?, Director of Development at 607-324-8194. Direct contributions may be sent to the St. James Mercy Foundation at 411 Canisteo Street in Hornell, New York 14843.

Memorial Gifts

A memorial tribute to remember a family member or special friend is a very thoughtful way to recognize those who have been an important part of your life. Memorial gifts to the St. James Mercy Foundation help us to purchase equipment for patient care and to support programs and projects to meet healthcare needs within our region.

The Founder's Club

The Founder's Club of the St. James Mercy Foundation is a planned giving program designed to recognize and honor special friend of the organization. Members of the Founder's Club have made a substantial financial commitment to support local healthcare in a manner that best suits their charitable giving plans. Our membership consists of businesses, organizations and individuals who share our commitment to the mission of St. James Mercy Health.

Gifts to the Founder’s Club are used in a manner consistent with the wishes of the donor. Some choose to make their gift to benefit a particular project or program needed to serve our region today. Others elect to invest in the future of the St. James Mercy Health System, directing that their gift be invested with only the earnings to be used to meet equipment and facility improvement needs of today. Though there are many ways to make a commitment to the Founder's Club, the result is that our organization is pleased to have the opportunity to recognize and thank our members for their strong friendship and support.

Tax Benefits

The St. James Mercy Foundation wants all of our donors to gain the maximum tax benefit allowable for their charitable support. We do not render legal or tax advisory services and strongly recommend that you meet with an attorney or other professional investment advisor to assure that your best interests are served as you make your gifts.
